We collect as little as we can, use it for the purpose you gave it to us, and do not sell it.
Using the Cost Planner
You can use the Cost Planner without giving us any personal information. Your configuration is kept in your browser’s local storage so a refresh does not lose your work. It is not sent to us unless you save a project or request help.
Saved projects
When you save a project, we store:
- your email address (required) and an optional project name
- your planner configuration, estimates, versions, and the pricing-model version
- an optional ZIP code; we never ask for a street address
- a random identifier for the planner session, and the page you saved from
- a one-way hash of your private project link (the link itself is not stored)
We use your email to send your project link and, if delivery is unavailable, we show the link to you directly. Saving a project does not sign you up for marketing. Anyone with your private project link can open the project, so keep it safe. You can delete a project permanently from the project page.
Help requests
When you ask for help with next steps, we store your name, email, ZIP code, timing, the help you requested, any optional details you give us (phone, ownership, budget, description), your planner configuration if available, and your consent choices with the wording version you agreed to.
- Direct contact (required): we may contact you about your request.
- Referral (optional): only if you check this box may we share your request with an independent manufacturer, designer, contractor, or installer. Without it, we do not share your request.
- Marketing (optional): only if you check this box will we send planning tips and pricing updates.
Spam and abuse prevention
To limit automated submissions, we keep a short-lived, salted one-way hash of the submitting IP address for rate limiting, deleted after 24 hours. The IP address itself is not stored. If enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile may process limited technical information to distinguish people from bots under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Analytics
We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures page views without cookies or cross-site tracking. We also record anonymous planner events—for example, that a result was displayed, with a broad price band and option IDs. These events never include your name, email, phone, address, project description, or project link.
We also use Google Analytics to see which pages and planner steps people use, so we can improve the site. It sets first-party cookies and receives your IP address, browser details, and the pages you view. Google signals and ad personalization are off, and we never send names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, project descriptions, or project links. You can opt out with Google’s opt-out browser add-on (opens in a new tab) or by blocking cookies.
Hosting, email, and service providers
The site runs on Cloudflare Pages and stores data in a Cloudflare D1 database. Transactional email is sent through an email service provider. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where these providers operate.
Retention and deletion
We keep saved projects until you delete them or ask us to, and help requests for as long as needed to respond and keep a record of consent. To delete your data or ask what we hold, email [email protected].
Unsubscribing
Use the link in any email or the unsubscribe page.
Children
This site is intended for adults planning home projects and is not directed to children.
Changes
We will update this notice and its date if our practices change.
